‘No need to panic, UP has enough LPG supply’
Lucknow: The availability of LPG and petroleum products in Uttar Pradesh remains normal and adequate despite the current geopolitical situation, said the State Level Coordinator (SLC) of the oil industry in the state.
According to a press release by the SLC, 4,143 LPG distributors operating in UP cater to around 4.8 crore consumers. The LPG distribution network is supported by 36 bottling plants, where oil marketing companies (OMCs) are maintaining an average stock of about four days, in line with operational requirements, it added.
According to SLC Sanjay Bhandari, on an average, 10 to 11 lakh LPG bookings are received daily in the state, against which nearly seven lakh cylinders are delivered every day. The LPG supply system is functioning smoothly and consumers have been advised to avoid unnecessary bookings, said Bhandari who speaks on behalf of three govt-run pumps in the state — IOC, HP, and Bharat Petroleum. "We are requesting LPG consumers to book refills strictly as per actual requirement and only after 25 days from the last cylinder delivery, to ensure uninterrupted supply to all households," said Bhandari, who is the executive director in the Indian Oil Corporation.
On fuel availability, the SLC said there are 13,168 petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh. Retail outlets currently have an average of five days of petrol and diesel stock, while oil company depots are holding an additional 16 to 17 days of reserves. This ensures a total availability of around 20 to 22 days, which is significantly higher than normal operating levels. Bhandari emphasized that supplies of petrol and diesel are continuing without disruption at all retail outlets. He appealed to the public to purchase petroleum products only as per actual requirement and maintain sensible consumption.
The SLC cautioned against panic buying and hoarding, stating that there is no disruption in the supply chain, and advised people not to pay attention to rumours. Public cooperation, the note said, is essential to ensure smooth and efficient supply of essential fuels across the state.
