Lalit Kala awards for 10 artists
lucknow: the 23rd state art exhibitionbegan at the lal baradari in qaiserbagh here on sunday. the exhibition wasinaugurated by sumitra mahajan, union minister of state minister for humanrecourse development at a simple function comprising artists and patrons. tenartists from different fields of art and sculpture were awarded. prerna singh oflucknow was awarded for her painting ‘black canvas’ showingman-woman relationship. murlidhar rai from ghaziabad was selected for his‘movement light’ in oil painting. ravi shankar of bhu was chosen forhis ‘save peace’ on acrylic medium. sarika bala from gorakhpur andradhe shyam were awarded for their calligraphy on a piece of cloth. sher singhkukkal from noida portrayed a winning piece named ‘life’ on mixedmedia. shivnath ram of bhu was awarded for ‘experiment’ which wasdrawn by pencil. vipula srivastava from lucknow got the award for ‘searchfor self’. anshuman sharma of bhu was honoured for a sculpture‘window’ in fibre. venu gopal parashar from mathura was awarded forhis piece ‘ke baad’ on fibre glass. sneh mohan from lucknow got theaward for ‘family ii’ in ceramic. all the paintings werepraiseworthy, specially those by the young artists. sarika bala from gorakhpurwas appreciated for the fine work she did on an ordinary piece of cloth. thedark background in prerna singh’s work was suggestive of possibility ofexploration in a man-woman relationship.
