Govt bans land sale within LDA housing projects on Sultanpur Rd
Lucknow: The state govt has prohibited the sale, purchase and registration of land within the notified limits of the Lucknow Development Authority’s (LDA) proposed IT City and Wellness City projects on Sultanpur Road. The notification came into effect on Saturday.Under the order, any transfer or registration of land within the project boundaries will be considered invalid. The move intends to prevent speculative land deals and ensure that the benefits of the land pooling scheme reach only existing landowners. The decision is expected to check land trading in the project areas and stop investors from buying land solely to gain from the land pooling policy. As a result, only genuine landowners recorded in revenue records will be eligible for benefits under the scheme. The IT City project is planned over around 1,054 hectares, while Wellness City will come up on nearly 1,198 acres along Kisan Path. Both projects are being developed under the land pooling model, where landowners surrender land in exchange for developed plots. In most cases, farmers are offered developed land equivalent to 25% of the area contributed.
LDA officials said the land pooling process will continue, but only landowners whose names are already recorded in revenue records will be eligible to participate. People purchasing land after the notification will not be entitled to any benefits under the scheme.
