BJP bags 7 of 9 Lucknow seats, first win in Mohanlalganj

BJP won seven out of nine seats in the state capital, though it lost two urban seats which it won in 2017. It also won Mohanlalganj seat on the outskirts for the first time. The other six seats it won were Lucknow East, Cantt, North, Sarojininagar, Bakshi Ka Talab and Mohanlalganj.

LUCKNOW: BJP won seven out of nine seats in the state capital, though it lost two urban seats which it won in 2017.
It also won Mohanlalganj seat on the outskirts for the first time. The other six seats it won were Lucknow East, Cantt, North, Sarojininagar, Bakshi Ka Talab and Mohanlalganj. It had won eight out of nine in 2017.
It lost Lucknow West and Lucknow Central -- the two urban seats where the party had fielded inexperienced candidates -- to Samajwadi Party candidates.

In Lucknow east, senior minister Ashutosh Tandon received 1.52 lakh votes and won by margin of 68,731 against SP's Anurag Singh Bhadauria.Tandon won the seat with 16,548 votes margin against SP's former MP and MLA Sushila Saroj.
In Mohanlalganj, the party made a historic opening with 1.07 lakh votes in favour of Amresh Kumar. He won the seat with 16,548 votes margin against SP's former MP and MLA Sushila Saroj.
In Lucknow Cantt, minister Brajesh Pathak won the poll by 39,512 votes margin against Congress candidate Surendra Singh Gandhi. Pathak received 1.08 lakh votes.
In Lucknow North, veteran BJP MLA Neeraj Bora defeated SP's Pooja Shukla by 31,351 votes. Bora received 1.33 lakh votes, while student leader Shukla got 1.01 lakh votes.
In Sarojini Nagar, the former cop and ED joint director Rajeshwar Singh received 1.39 lakh votes and defeated former MLA Abhishek Mishra by 51,181 votes.

Similarly, Union minister Kaushal Kishore's wife Jai Devi won Malihabad seat by a margin of 7,745 votes against SP candidate Surendra Kumar. Jai Devi got 1.06 lakh votes, while Surendra received 98,627 votes.
In Bakshi-Ka-Talab, SP veteran and former MLA Gomti Yadav was defeated by BJP's Yogesh Shukla by 26,985 votes. The BJP candidate Yogesh Shukla received 1.44 lakh votes, while Gomti Yadav got 1.17 lakh votes. P 4
In Lucknow West, SP's Armaan Khan won by margin of over 8,000 votes against Anjani Kumar Srivastava. In Lucknow central, which was vacated by Pathak, two-time MLA Ravidas Mehrotra defeated BJP's Rajnish Kumar Gupta by 10, 935 votes.
