Bahuguna played key role in UP’s development: CM
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday paid tributes to former UP chief minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on his death anniversary and described him as a popular leader and an efficient administrator.Paying floral tributes at his statue, the CM credited Bahuguna for focusing on UP's development and for consistently working to strengthen social awareness and national consciousness. "Bahuguna was born in a small village in Pauri district of undivided Uttar Pradesh, now in Uttarakhand. He received his early education in his village and later moved to Prayagraj for higher studies. During his student years, he became a student leader and joined India's freedom movement. Along with contributing to the country's independence, he continuously worked to strengthen social awareness and national consciousness," the CM said. Describing his political development, Yogi said when Bahuguna was a student leader in Prayagraj in 1942, he was arrested for his involvement in the freedom struggle. In independent India, he made notable contributions as a public representative, state minister, CM and union minister.
"He gave a new identity to Prayagraj and played a significant role in taking UP's development to greater heights. All the work he carried out as a public representative was dedicated to every section of society, national prosperity, and public welfare," Yogi added.
