The 17-year-old youth was identified as Abhinav Tiwari, son of Shiv Kumar, a native of Sultanpur district. Abhinav had been living with his brother-in-law, Mukul Sudhir Pandey, a resident of C-block, Indiranagar for the past few years.

Abhinav used to stay in a separate room on the second floor of the house. Mukul told the police that on Tuesday till around 11.00 in the morning, Abhinav didn't come down. Thinking that he must be sleeping, Mukul went to the second floor room trying to wake him up. Failing to get any response even after knocking at the door for some time, Mukul got suspicious and broke open the door. He spotted Abhinav hanging from the fan in the room. Mukul immediately informed the police about the incident, who reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
The police said that though the cause of Abhinav taking the extreme step could not be ascertained, the fact that Abhinav was mentally not sound, as claimed by the family members, was being investigated.
The police, however, confirmed that Abhinav was a bright student and used to study till late in the night. So, pressure of studies doesn't look to be the reason, the police claimed.
It was only on Sunday night, when a Class XII student of a prominent school had ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling hook in his house in Indiranagar area under Ghazipur police station. Like Abhinav, Shivam was also said to be a brilliant student. The police said that the exact cause behind Shivam taking the extreme step could not be ascertained till Tuesday. A probe into the incident was still on.
