KOZHIKODE: This Human Rights' Day will witness a confluence of human rights activists and victims of state's highhandedness in Kozhikode.
On December 10, the women's wing of Jamaat-e-Islami will play host to human rights activist Sakkiya Soman at a function that will be attended by Gopinath Pillai, the father of Pranesh Kumar Pillai alias Javed Shaikh who was killed in a fake encounter in Gujarat.

He will also address the gathering.
R C Sabira, state secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami women's wing, said, "The state-sponsored terrorism and other human rights violations in a democratic society has been spreading fear among the people. Even though the recent reports from Gujarat help to keep faith in judiciary, the truth points to the cruelty of the government there to the people."
She said that the experiences of Kavitha Karkare and Soofiya Madani show that women are the lot being left to suffer mainly because of such acts.
