Voter missing, abduction cuffs on BLO

Kolkata: A 48-year-old BLO has been arrested on Friday for allegedly abducting a voter at Baduria in North 24 Parganas. Another person, identified as Sagar Gayen, has also been taken into custody in connection with the incident.The arrested BLO has been identified as Rizwan Hasan Mondal, alias Montu, who was posted at Papila booth 22 in Baduria. According to the complaint, Mondal allegedly called the voter, 38-year-old Nasir Ali Mondal on Feb 9, asking him to come with SIR documents. "Nasir reportedly left home with the documents but did not return. The next day, his bike was found in a canal, along with a pair of shoes. However, Nasir remains missing," a senior officer said.Family members lodged a complaint at the local PS, alleging the BLO's involvement. Acting on it, police arrested Mondal on Friday on charges of abduction.The BLO was remanded in police custody for 10 days after being produced at a Basirhat court on Friday.
