KOLKATA: Shyamal Dutta will assume thecharge of West Bengal''s next Director General of Police after the retirement ofD C Bajpai on March 31 next.Home Department sources on Wednesdaysaid that Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee had signed the necessary papersfor the appointment of Dutta, a 1968 batch IPS officer.Dutta is atpresent the Additional Director General of Police (IB).Sources saidthat formalities for Dutta''s appointment had been made well in advance of theannouncement of the next Lok Sabha poll date.
