Row after JU students stamp on flags
Kolkata: A heated argument broke out at JU on Thursday after two students reportedly stamped on a Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) flag and an ABVP flag, before trying to throw them in the dustbin. The incident happened outside Aahar canteen. A non-teaching staff of WB University Karmachari Parishad (WBUKP), a unit of BJP Trade Union Relation Cell, protested along with members of WB University Karmachari Sangh (WBUKS), affiliated to BMS. The students fled but an argument erupted between and another student. Neither ABVP nor WBUKS has lodged a formal complaint yet. Meanwhile, Akhil Bhartiya Rastriya Shaikshik Mahasangha (ABRSM), JU unit, submitted a letter to the VC on Thursday. Math professor Buddhadeb Sau, member of ABRSM, said, "We pointed out some discrepancies in recruitment and and to know the VC's stand on this." tnn
