JU to write to state, Centre for ‘eminence’ tag

Kolkata: Keen to get the ‘Institute of Eminence' (IoE) tag, Jadavpur University authorities plan to write to the state and the Union education ministry. JU VC Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, "We plan to write to the Union education ministry through the state to get the IoE tag as the same party is in Centre and state now."JU was among eight institutes shortlisted in July 2018 for the IoE tag. It was supposed to get Rs 1,000 crore for five years. "JU lost the tag due to the state-Centre fund war," said JUTA general secretary Partha Pratim Ray. tnn
