JU RSS non-teaching staff unit seeks union office room

Kolkata: Members of Paschimbanga Visvavidyalaya Karmachari Sangh, Jadavpur University unit, staged a demonstration outside the vice-chancellor’s office on Wednesday, demanding an allotment for a union office room.“Despite repeated letters, requesting for an office room for a recognised employees’ union, our demand has gone unattended. We cannot discharge our responsibilities towards our staff without a designated space. The university has an established practice of allotting office space for employees’ unions,” said Biswajit Deb, secretary of the Paschimbanga Visvavidyalaya Karmachari Sangh, Jadavpur University unit. “We withdrew our protest after the authorities assured us of space.” VC Chiranjib Bhattacharjee said, “We are looking into the matter.”
