Kolkata: Be careful if a parcel reaches your residence in your absence. For several residents staying in complexes off EM Bypass—especially established doctors whose addresses are more easily traceable—this has not only become a nuisance since these parcels were never ordered in the first place, but it is also leading to monetary losses.
A gynaecologist residing at a complex in Survey Park has now reported a cash-on-delivery (COD) scam to the police after being targeted for the fourth time. Cops said two similar complaints have been received at Anandapur too.
The senior gynaecologist has now decided to take legal action after her son, also a doctor, unknowingly paid Rs 2,200 when a courier agent delivered a package to their residence in Survey Park on Oct 26. He made a UPI payment using a QR code provided by the courier. The parcel contained two old, stained jackets labelled "made in Thailand", with no sender information.
