BJP no to new members in bid to avoid TMC-isation
Kolkata: BJP's Bengal unit announced on Friday that it would not induct any new members at the moment, at the party's first formal organisational meeting after the May 4 election results.Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said induction of members from other political parties was prohibited at the moment and any functionary attempting such induction would face action, including expulsion.Warning against "Trinamool-isation of BJP", Bhattacharya also imposed a strict prohibition on takeovers of opposition party offices and transport unions, such as those for autorickshaws and e-rickshaws.Bhattacharya further said that anti-party activities, extortion and operation of syndicates would result in immediate action and that a disciplinary committee has been formed to monitor conduct of party functionaries. He also ordered a change in protocol for party banners. Photographs of CM Suvendu Adhikari must now precede his own photograph, in line with BJP's national policy on the matter wherein the head of govt is positioned before the party chief, he said.In a series of organisational meetings held on Friday, the BJP leadership said that 15-member district core committees would be formed across Bengal.BJP central observer for Bengal Sunil Bansal instructed district presidents to not take decisions unilaterally but to discuss them with the aforementioned core committees.Party functionaries have been instructed to constitute these committees by May 25. Bansal warned that while previous errors had been forgiven, organisational lapses would not be allowed henceforth.Bansal further called on state unit members to identify 100 capable workers in every district to lead the party's work ahead of the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections.
