MALDA: Cashing in on the unrest in Bangladesh, a youth brought a minor girl to India but landed in police net before selling off the girl. Police have recovered some identity cards from him, including one of Bangladesh. A SIM card of the neighbouring country was also recovered from him.
It has been learnt that Shabnam Khatun (name changed), 16, of village Chhoto Baroan under Khulna district of Bangladesh spoke to the accused Tushar Saha of India over mobile phone two months ago.

The youth claimed to be a resident of Kolkata and gradually, they started having an affair. He proposed to Shabnam recently and asked her to come to India. "A few days back, he went to Bangladesh and met the girl. On Saturday, he managed to bring the girl to Bengal, crossing the border through Hili under South Dinajpur," sources said.
From there, they boarded a bus and reached Malda. "But instead of going to Kolkata, Tushar wanted to catch a train to Delhi. This made the girl suspicious. She wanted to go back. This led to an altercation between the two," said police.
