Youth arrested for pelting stones at Vande Bharat Express in Angamaly
Kochi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old on charges of pelting stones at Vande Bharat Express at Angamaly on the night of March 7.The arrested person is Sujith Suresh of Akaparamb near Angamaly. Two windowpanes of the train were damaged in the incident, which came to light when the train reached Mangalapuram. After examining CCTVs installed on the exterior of the train, the guard filed a complaint with RPF in Aluva. RPF later identified him from CCTV visuals. According to RPF, the accused pelted stones at the train due to frustration over his girlfriend backing out of the relationship. Suresh was produced before Ernakulam chief judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. He has been lodged in borstal school (rehabilitative detention centre for young offenders) in Thrikkakara since pelting stones at trains is a non-bailable offence. The case was registered under Section 153 of Railways Act.
