Kochi: A 46-year-old woman was killed after a truck rammed her scooter in Vazhakulam early on Sunday.
The deceased was Anisha Moosa of Marady. The accident occurred around 6.35am at Ancham Mile in Avoli, Muvattupuzha. The truck was heading towards Muvattupuzha from Thodupuzha when it crashed into the scooter coming from the opposite direction. Though she was rushed to Muvattupuzha general hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Vazhakulam police registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 281 and 106(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence and rash driving. The body was handed over to the kin after an autopsy. It is suspected that the truck driver dozed off and lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.
Man found dead: Police found the body of a man, suspected to be in his 50s, on the railway track near Aluva on Sunday.
According to Aluva police, the loco pilot of Karakkal Express passed on information that someone was hit by the train between Aluva and Pulinchode Metro station. A police team that inspected the scene later found the man’s body. They are trying to identify the victim.
