NPS meet discusses need for retirement planning

Kochi: Regulators, industry leaders and financial experts came together to discuss growing urgency of retirement planning in India at a National Pension System (NPS) awareness event held in Kochi on Monday in association with The Times of India.The session featured Rahul Ravindran and Khushbu Shukla, executive director and AGM, respectively, of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), K R Bijimon of Muthoot Finance Ltd, Sunil Job of Synthite Industries Pvt Ltd, Alma M S of Kerala Forest Development Corporation Ltd and Primson Diaz of Diaz Invest Pvt Ltd.The speakers highlighted the shift towards individual-led retirement planning, underscoring the importance of early participation, disciplined contributions and informed investment choices. They also emphasised NPS's flexibility, portability and cost efficiency, while calling on organisations to play a proactive role in building financial awareness and enabling employees to make informed long-term decisions, positioning NPS as a cornerstone of India's evolving retirement ecosystem.
