Day after polling station skirmish, UDF’s Shanimol Usman, others booked

Kottayam: Poochakkal police filed a case against UDF candidate from Aroor Shanimol Usman and 50 other identifiable individuals following a scuffle a day earlier on election day. On Thursday, LDF workers blocked Usman from entering the polling station at Perumbalam South Govt LP School around 6.30pm, leading to a skirmish. She had reportedly come there to inquire about election matters. The issue was resolved through police intervention by 9pm. Poochakkal police charged them with unlawful assembly and causing obstruction to traffic. Usman stated that she would also file a case against those who unjustly blocked her entry into the polling station, where she had rightful access as a candidate.
