Meanwhile, the meeting decided to field all the sitting MLAs from the district. There were also suggestions regarding fielding district secretary R Nazar. Some members suggested fielding him in Kayamkulam or Aroor. If the state leadership goes against fielding all the sitting MLAs in Alappuzha district, either U Prathibha in Kayamkulam or Daleema in Aroor will have to pave way to Nazar.
The other sitting CPM MLAs are P P Chitharanjan (Alappuzha), Saji Cherian (Chengannur), H Salam (Ambalappuzha) and M S Arunkumar (Mavelikkara).
It will be the state leadership that takes the final call on choosing the candidates.
