95.6%: Tvm region tops CBSE Class XII results
Kochi: Schools from Kerala continued their dominance in the CBSE exams as Trivandrum region, which includes schools from the state and Lakshadweep, secured top position in the country in Class XII examinations on Wednesday with an overall pass percentage of 95.62. The national overall pass percentage dipped to 85.20 from previous year's 88.39.A total of 43,118 students wrote the examinations in Trivandrum region, where girls (97.22) outperformed boys (93.91) in pass percentage. As many as 38,388 students were from independent schools, 3,114 from Kendriya Vidyalayas, 928 from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and 378 from govt schools.CBSE implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) for all Class XII answer books this time, aiming at error-free evaluation and enhanced transparency. However, several school managements have raised concerns over a significant slump in the marks secured by students compared to previous years.CBSE Management Association president K Moosa said numerous students have opted for revaluation."Trivandrum region has performed well nationally; however, many school managements have raised concerns about the marks scored. The association will evaluate the situation and write to the CBSE chairman as well as the new education minister to intervene," said Moosa.Students from 699 schools wrote examinations at 245 centres in the region from Feb 20 to April 10. Supplementary examinations will be held from July 15 for those seeking to clear the examinations or improvement.
