UP man bites off shopkeeper’s finger during fight over Rs 2 cigarette

KANPUR: Police registered a report against a miscreant after he allegedly bit off a shopkeeper's finger during a dispute over Rs 2 for a cigarette on Sunday afternoon in Bilhaur town.The incident took place at a paan shop run by Mukesh alias Deepu at the gate of primary school in front of the office of the block education officer.According to the complaint, the heavily intoxicated youth, identified as Anshu Kushwaha, came to the shop, asked for a cigarette and started smoking. After smoking, he gave Rs 5 and Mukesh told him the price was Rs 7. Instead of paying the remaining Rs 2, the youth started abusing him. The complaint said the argument escalated and the youth came inside the counter and started pushing and shoving. When Mukesh tried to push him away, the youth bit off the finger of his left hand with his teeth.Nearby shopkeepers rushed to the spot after hearing screams, caught the accused and handed him over to the police.Assistant police commissioner Manjay Singh said that based on the complaint of shopkeeper Mukesh a report was registered and Kushwaha, a resident of Lalbahadur Nagar Tiliyana Gali, was taken into custody. The injured shopkeeper was sent to a hospital.
