Tight security for India, Australia cricket teams
Kanpur: Indian and Australian cricketers during their one-week stay in the city will be under multilayer security. The two teams will play three one-day matches at Green Park stadium on Sept 30, Oct 3 and Oct 5. Preparations are underway to create a special corridor for the players from the hotel to the stadium. Police force will be deployed in every gallery of the stadium.UPCA officials and the police commissioner's team will conduct review meetings to plan parking sites, security and smooth entry of cricket fans into the stadium. DCP East Satyajit Gupta and ADCP Anjali Vishwakarma on Tuesday inspected the stadium along with tournament director Dr Sanjay Kapoor.Kanpur Eaglets in KDMA semifinals: Satya Prakash's fine performance with bat and ball helped Kanpur Eaglets beat Spark Club by seven runs and sail into the semi-final of the KDMA cricket league held here at Kanpur South B Ground on Tuesday.Eaglets Club, batting first, scored168 runs in the stipulated 30 overs. Thereafter, they wrapped Spark Club's innings on 161 runs. For Spark Club, Pawan Mishra played a fine knock of 80 runs.
Khandekar Cricket Academy, in another quarter-final, drubbed National Youth by 16 runs at Kanpur South A Ground. Khandekar Cricket Academy, deciding to bat first, posted a total of 146 runs. Thereafter, they restricted National Youth to 130 runs in 23 overs.UP athletic meet: Rashi Singh emerged as the fastest runner in the junior UP Athletic meet, which concluded at Prayagraj on Tuesday. Rashi won the 100 and 200 metres races in the under-18 years group and was adjudged the fastest runner of her group. Another Kanpur boy, Rajat Kushwaha, won a silver in the 400 metres hurdles event and Shipra Kushswaha bagged bronze in the 800 metres race in under-20 group.
