Kanpur: Shubham Verma’s knock of 100 runs helped Riders Club beat Paramount club by 163 runs in KDMA league match held at the Kanpur South ground here on Monday.
Riders Club, batting first, scored 6 wickets for 255 runs and thereafter they wrapped the innings of Paramount Club on 92 runs. Saurabh Singh bagged 5 wickets for 7 runs.
In another match, BL XI drubbed Cantonment Lion by 8 wickets at the Sapru ground.

Inter-school chess: Kanpur Chess Association will organize the first inter-school state chess championship in boys and girls group on April 9 and April 10.
According to Dilip Kumar Srivastava, secretary KCA, the event is recognized by UP State Chess Sports Association and is part of All India Chess Federation’s programme “Chess in schools”.
The events would be held in under 7, 9, 11,15 and 17 year age groups in boys and girls category, and around 200 players are likely to take part in the event. Around 108 players would be honoured. The top three players in each age group will be rewarded and top three schools will be felicitated, he said. The last date for entry is April 7.
The players must be registered with the All India Chess Federation. Anand Singh of Lucknow will be the chief arbiter in the boys group while Harish Rastogi in girls group, he added.
