Kanpur: A man has been arrested for allegedly posing as a Hindu to befriend a law student in Kanpur and raping her.
Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused, Kaif, under charges of rape and other relevant sections.
According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of the Harbansh Mohal police station area, was pursuing an LLB course at a city-based college. She alleged that when a cow kept at her residence fell ill, she contacted a veterinary doctor, who reportedly sent his assistant, Kaif, to examine the animal.
The student alleged that during his visits, Kaif obtained her mobile phone number and began communicating with her while introducing himself as Rajdeep Singh. She alleged that he later established physical relations with her.
She also claimed that the accused blackmailed her and subjected her to financial exploitation. During this period, she came to know that the man was actually Kaif.
The woman further alleged that Kaif often arrived at her house in an intoxicated condition and tried to force her to speak with him. When she resisted his advances, he allegedly abused her and threatened her with dire consequences.
Kotwali police station in-charge Inspector Jagdish Pandey said the accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
