KANPUR: On the occasion of the National Technology Day, Defence Material and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur, organised an exhibition for schools to showcase the products and technologies developed for the Armed forces.
Around 1,000 students from different schools visited the exhibition. A variety of products, ranging from glacier clothing to camouflage nets, helmets, carbon nanotubes and fuel, were on display.
The students showed special interest in NBC protective clothing, flight data recorder and bullet proof jacket.
Dr KU Bhasker Rao, director, DMSRDE, informed that the Army had placed bulk orders for some newly developed items for which the technology was transferred to industry and ordnance factories. Dr Anurag Srivastava, joint director, stated that the Army order of Rs 40 crore for NBC Suit Mark-IV was being executed, whereas bulk production of Shelter for Mortar Position Controller and camouflage nets was also going on. Dr BV Ramani, was the chief guest on the occasion.
