Euphoria sets tone for 3-day Bithoor fest
Kanpur: Classical dance performances and a live concert by the popular band Euphoria mesmerised the audience on the inaugural day of the 3-day Bithoor Mahotsav, which commenced on Thursday. The cultural evening witnessed an overwhelming response, with thousands swaying to the rhythm of music in the historic town of Bithoor.The festival began on a devotional note, with singer Pranav Singh presenting the Bithoor anthem, "Jai Ho Dhara Bithoor Hai Dhanya Dhara Jahan Kalkal Bahti Maa Ganga Dhara."
Noted Kathak exponent Anuradha Singh of Bhopal Kathak Samiti enthralled the gathering with a graceful and well-orchestrated classical dance recital. Her performances, including Bhaktikataka and Kaliyamardana, reflected a fine blend of expressions, rhythm, and intricate footwork, leaving the audience spellbound and immersing the venue in classical fervour.As the evening progressed, the atmosphere transformed into a vibrant musical concert with the arrival of Euphoria. Lead vocalist Palash Sen engaged the audience before launching into the band's popular numbers. As soon as the tune of their hit song "Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali" resonated across the pandal, youngsters rose from their seats and joined in. During "Maeri," the entire audience sang in unison, creating a euphoric ambience.Thousands danced together as Palash Sen frequently referred to the historic importance of Bithoor, forging a strong connection with the crowd. The musical night continued enthusiastically until late hours.Earlier, the event was inaugurated by chief guest minister Yogendra Upadhyaya in presence of MP Ramesh Awasthi, Mayor Pramila Pandey, MLAs Abhijeet Singh Sanga, Neelima Katiyar and Saroj Kureel, MLC Salil Bishnoi, DM Jitendra Pratap Singh, and CDO Diksha Jain. Addressing the gathering, Yogendra Upadhyaya paid tribute to the historic land of Bithoor and said the town was progressing while preserving its cultural identity and past glory. He noted that such events rekindled awareness about Bithoor's rich heritage. Apart from cultural performances, the Horticulture department's flower exhibition emerged as a major attraction. As many as 66 varieties of flowers showcased a vibrant spectrum of colours. An exhibition of defence products also caught the attention of youth. A total of 35 stalls set up by various govt departments and self-help groups added to the festive spirit.
