DM urges citizens to opt for self-enumeration in Census 2027
Kanpur: District magistrate, Jitendra Pratap Singh and his wife, Rashmi Singh, on Thursday conducted a self-enumeration for Census 2027 at their residence in Civil Lines and appealed to the residents of the district to actively participate in the process.
He said that if citizens complete the self-enumeration beforehand, it will greatly facilitate the enumerators in the census work, and the process will become simpler and faster.
The DM said that the self-enumeration phase was being conducted in the state from May 7 to 21, 2026. Subsequently, between May 22 and June 20, 2026, enumerators will conduct door-to-door verification and enumeration work.
He appealed to the people to do self-enumeration by visiting the census portal through their mobile. He stated that for self-enumeration, citizens will need to visit the Census Portal, select their state, and register.
After entering the name of the head of the family and a 10-digit mobile number, verification will be conducted via OTP. Only one family can be registered using a single mobile number.
After registration, citizens will be required to select their location and provide general information regarding their household and family.
After accurately filling in all the information, the application will be submitted, and citizens will receive an 11-digit self-enumeration ID, which will begin with the letter ‘H’.
The DM appealed to the citizens to safeguard this ID and present it to the enumerator upon their visit, so that the data can be verified immediately. If any information happens to be missing, it can be updated on the spot.
He further clarified that all information related to the census is kept strictly confidential. “This information is not shared even under the RTI Act, nor can it be summoned by any other institution or court. Therefore, all citizens should provide accurate and precise information without any hesitation,” he said.
