JAIPUR: Three days after supporters of former MP
Vishvendra Singh were fired at following ruckus created by them in Bharatpur, district collector Krishna Kunal on Sunday issued a notice to Raghuraj Singh, a former royal family member who authored ‘Bharatpur Rajvansh – Achooti Smritiyan’, asking as to why his book should not be banned. The explanation has been sought over a complaint registered with the district magistrate by former zila pamukh of Bharatpur,Rajveer Singh.
The district collector has warned that if the reply is not submitted within 24 hours, one-sided action will be taken in the matter.
“In the notice, it has been stated that the complainant have alleged that the book is full of lies which malign the image of Vishvendra and his family,” said a district administration officer.
He added that the book has given rise to law and order situation in the state and feelings of general public and members of a particular community were hurt.
“The book has disturbed the communal harmony in the district. So the respondent, Raghuraj Singh and the publisher have been asked to give an explanation why his book should not be banned. The complainant has sought a complete ban on the distribution of the book,” said the officer.
Meanwhile, the district administration has given its nod for an ‘all-community panchayat ’ to be held at Kumher on Monday. The panchayat has been called by Vishvendra in which prominent leaders of some communities are likely to take part. The superintendent of police had issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the gathering on Saturday.
As per the advertisements given in local dailies, it is being claimed that three MPs and two MLAs will take part in the panchayat.
On Thursday, Vishvendra with his wife and supporters were protesting at Laxmi Vilas, a hotel-cum-residence of Raghuraj Singh, who had authored the book on the royal family of Bharatpur. Vishvendra alleged that the book was full of lies and the author had tried to malign the image of the royal family through his “malicious” writing.
While the protest was on, a few of Vishvendra’s supporters went berserk and reportedly damaged properties belonging to Raghuraj’s family. At that time someone opened fire at the mob in which at least seven were injured. The medical report proved bullet injuries to two of the supporters of the politician while others sustained injuries in the melee that followed.
