Jaipur: A temple walk was organized in Jaipur Sunday to promote awareness of the city’s rich religious and cultural heritage among residents on the eve of International Museum Day, observed on May 18, . The initiative highlighted the importance of preserving historic temples not only as places of worship but also as valuable cultural landmarks.
“During the walk, discussions were also held on topics such as heritage conservation, traditional crafts, and cultural dialogue. Participants emphasized that religious sites should be preserved not merely as centers of faith, but also as integral components of cultural heritage,” stated Sanjay Kaushik, the convenor of FORT (Friends of Rajasthan Tourism) an association of the travel industry in Rajasthan.
The event was jointly organized by FORT and the Jajam Foundation. It commenced at 7 am from the historic Brij Nidhi Temple in Jaipur’s Old City. Participants then visited the Giriraj Temple and the Ramchandra Temple, both located within the Hawa Mahal complex, before concluding the walk at the Kalki Temple.
Throughout the walk, attendees were given detailed insights into the architecture, history, and heritage significance of the temples. “Through such events, an effort is being made to bring to light the lesser-known aspects of Jaipur’s history,” stated Vinod Joshi of the Jajam Foundation.
