Rajasthan to automate all driving test tracks

Jaipur: Rajasthan govt will automate all 35 driving test tracks in the state, and licences will be issued after stricter checks, deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa said during a joint review meeting of the transport and road safety dept and Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC).

“All driving test tracks are being automated to ensure transparency. Automated tracks are operational at 14 locations with agency support, and instructions have been issued to complete the remaining sites quickly. A PIN code-based mapping system has also been implemented to prevent erroneous slot bookings,” said the deputy chief minister.

Bairwa directed officials to ensure time-bound implementation of all schemes and technological innovations so that Rajasthan’s transport system can be established as a model for the country. He issued directives on preparing an effective action plan to prevent road accidents, making transport services accessible and public-centric, establishing new bus stands, repairing and maintaining existing bus stands, and ensuring improved public amenities.

He added that modern bus ports with state-of-the-art facilities will be developed in PPP mode at 10 district headquarters, including Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, Bharatpur and Bikaner, and directed that the tender process be expedited.

Reviewing fleet modernisation, he said that procurement of 300 electric buses and 300 new Roadways buses is progressing in “mission mode.”

For enhancing road safety, advanced life support training has been provided to more than 3,000 medical personnel and basic life support training to more than 15,000 citizens. Under Phase II of the ‘Apni Bus – Rajasthan Roadways’ scheme, new work orders have also been issued for rural connectivity. The service is currently operational on 357 routes.
