JAIPUR: Jaipur police's crime branch on Friday detained two persons and recovered Rs 34.50 lakh cash from their car in Vidyadhar Nagar area of the city.
Vikas Pathak, DCP, crime, said the cops detained Rajesh and Ashish and found a bag containing Rs 34.50 lakh from their Honda City car.
"Rajesh is a resident of Harmada area. He runs a garment shop, whereas Ashish is the owner of a general store," he added.
The police said that they have found Rs 34 lakh in new currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and the remaining money was in Rs 100 denominations.
"Our teams had received a specific intelligence input about a possible exchange of money in new currency notes by two traders. So we raided the area and found the cash," Pathak said.
He added that the cops have not seized the cash and instead handed over the matter to the income tax department for further investigation. "We have informed the I-T department and they would carry out further probe into the matter. We suspected the cash to be unaccounted wealth, and thus conducted the raid," Pathak added.
