Mizoram woman held at Jaipur airport with cocaine worth over ₹22cr

Jaipur: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a woman passenger from Mizoram after recovering around 4.6 kg of cocaine worth nearly ₹22.8 crore from her luggage at Jaipur International Airport.

Officials said the woman arrived from Bangkok on a flight Tuesday. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI officers intercepted her during inspection and checking at the airport. After the seizure, the woman was taken into custody and formally arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. She was produced before a court Wednesday, which sent her to jail.

“The woman arrived from Bangkok on flight number FD-130. During inspection and checking at the airport, DRI officials recovered the cocaine concealed inside her trolley bag,” said a DRI officer, who did not wish to be identified.

DRI officials did not reveal the identity of the accused, saying the investigation into the international drug-trafficking network is continuing. “We are now probing the source of the narcotics consignment, its intended destination, and possible links with organised cross-border syndicates operating through Southeast Asian routes,” the officer added.

Officials said the accused is a resident of Mizoram and is suspected to have been working as a carrier for a larger international narcotics racket. Investigators are also examining her travel history, communication details and financial links connected to the case. The seizure is being seen as one of the major cocaine recoveries at Jaipur Airport in recent years.
