JCTSL staff end 2-wk protest after demands met
Jaipur: The indefinite hunger strike and protest by Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd (JCTSL) employees, which was continuing for the past 14 days over 14 pending demands, came to an end Thursday after discussions with JCTSL managing director Narayan Singh.
Union member Ramkunwar Bishnoi said the employees were protesting over delays in introducing new buses, recruitment on vacant posts, proper maintenance of buses, implementation of the Gratuity Act, payment of overtime dues and release of the seniority list. The protesters also demanded the removal of both depot managers and the redeployment of conductors who were assigned office duties for a long time back to bus routes.
Employees were staging a sit-in at Shaheed Smarak and Todi depot while pressing for their 14-point charter of demands. According to Nyangli, the Managing Director assured the employees during Thursday’s meeting that action would be taken to fulfil their major demands within the next 10 to 15 days.
Following the assurance and agreement on most of the demands, the employees decided to call off the hunger strike and end the protest.
