JAIPUR: The Jaipur police unearthed a major honeytrap blackmailing extortion racket and arrested a woman and her partner on Thursday. The duo was arrested after two city-based businessmen alleged that the gang was demanding an extorting of Rs 30 lakh for withdrawing the FIR.
DCP (West) Vikas Kumar Sharma said that the woman’s aide, identified as Jogendra Singh was caught red-handed during while accepting Rs 5 lakh. “The 25-year-old woman on August 2 went to Mahila police station and gave a complaint against two businessmen. She alleged that she was gang-raped in Chomu. The particular FIR was subsequently handed over to Chomu police station where a case under Section 376D (gang-rape) was registered against the two for raping the girl after spiking her drinks,” Sharma said.
Even as the Chomu police station was investigating the case, one of the relatives of the businessman informed police that, Jogendra Singh was persistently demanding an extortion. The police said that the phone call gave rise to the suspicion that FIR was filed with a premeditated aim to extort money from businessmen. The family members of the businessmen alleged that Jogendra told them that he was well connected to senior police officials and would ensure that the duo goes to jail for life.
“Jogendra had called many a times to families. He described himself as a lawyer and threatened that he would upload the video of the act on social media to defame them,” Sharma said.
The police found that Jogendra was the kingpin of the racket and had honey trapped the two businessmen for blackmailing.
As per the plan, the accused called the family members of the businessmen to come to Neem ka Thana with cash to ensure that the woman changes her statement in the court on Thursday.
As soon as Jogendra accepted the money, the police arrested him. Another team nabbed the woman from a different area. The duo admitted to have ran the racket to blackmail wealthy businessmen.
