BIKANER: General body meeting of Bikaner municipal corporation concluded on Wednesday amidst chaos, slogan shouting and cross allegations. Bikaner (west) MLA Gopal Joshi participated for the first time in the general body meeting as a special invitee. Issues relating to recruitment of sweepers, purchase of equipment and proper road lights were discussed in the general body meeting.

MLA Gopal Joshi asked the councillors to participate in the meeting with proper homework and in peaceful manner. Joshi said that being a MLA, he is also placing demands in the state legislative assembly but not in the manner as the councillors are doing here. When some Congress party councillors started asking questions to Joshi, he said that he is attending this meeting as a special invitee and is not supposed to reply to any query.
When mayor, Narayan Chopra started addressing the meeting, the Congress councillors started raising objections on the issues included in his address. Mayor Chopra expressed annoyance and asked them to keep quiet or leave, instead of disrupting proceedings. On this remark, the Congress councillors objected and started shouting slogans. Amidst their objections, the mayor placed some bills on the table to get them cleared. The Congress councillors shouted slogans. Independent councillor from ward No 35 Rajendra Panwar, staged a dharna in the meeting hall demanding proper solution to sewerage problem in his ward.
