Ad film shoot disrupted for depicting Urdu posters

The shooting of an advertisement film in the Walled City area was halted on Tuesday by a group of activists who were annoyed with the crew for using banners and posters depicting names of Pakistani cities and signages in Urdu language. What irked the protesters was that the crew had pasted some posters and banners in Urdu language to depict the backdrop as Pakistan on the walls of temples in the Walled City. The crew packed their bags in the evening vouching never to shoot again in the Pink City.

The crew was shooting for an advertisement film having a backdrop of Pakistan and its cities. The junior artistes and art designers had made all the preparations for the shoot. However, a good number of activists of Dharohar Bachao Samiti pulled down the banners and posters having 'Welcome to Lahore, Karachi Sweets, Rawalpindi Chaiwala' written on them. Various other sign boards in Urdu language were also removed by them.
Soon after the incident, a large number of policemen rushed to the spot and took the protesters away.
"The crew had the permission to shoot. Their locations for the day included Chandni Chowk, Char Darwaja and other areas in the Walled City. Protesters suddenly reached the spot and created ruckus. Finally, the crew members decided to move out of the city," said a senior police officer.
Police confirmed that the protesters forcefully removed the banners and posters.
Parth Sharma, patron of the Dharohar Bachao Samiti, said, "They had permission but that does not mean they will put up banners above Anand Krishna Bihari temple and Brij Nidhi temple. It was an advertisement film. So, we talked to the crew members and asked them to discontinue the shooting."
No case has been registered in the matter by either sides in this incident, police added.
