Indore: Indore Development Authority (IDA) has proposed a state-of-the-art multimodal mobility hub near Vijay Nagar square. The hub would serve as a seamless interchange point by integrating diverse transport systems, including Indore Metro, inter-state bus services and local city buses.
It is set to be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis on land specifically reserved for transport infrastructure. The IDA has already moved forward with the planning phase, appointing a transition adviser from four competing bids. The advisor is tasked with creating a sophisticated project model that incorporates digital travel tools and station-based shared mobility. By facilitating cooperation between public agencies and private operators, the hub aims to transform Vijay Nagar from a congested intersection into a world-class, transit-oriented business centre.
The authority CEO Parikshit Zade said the hub would enhance urban sustainability while providing a hassle-free travel experience. "This hub will function as a central interchange, connecting public transit modes to ensure residents can navigate the city without the current traffic woes," Zade explained.
The key features of the mobility hub include direct links between the upcoming Metro line and long-distance road transport. The structure will house premium office spaces, a modern marketplace hotels and essential public utilities. There are plans to include dedicated e-mobility charging stations and secure bicycle parking to encourage "last-mile" green connectivity.
