Uncle-niece attempt suicide in Indore

INDORE: A 16-year-old girl and her maternal uncle allegedly attempted suicide by consuming toilet acid at a relative’s house in Chitawad area here on Friday evening. Family opposition to their close friendship is suspected to have triggered the incident.
The teenaged girl and her relative Sunil Chouhan, 22, both residents of Udai Nagar in neighbouring Dewas district, allegedly eloped from their house a few days ago.They spent the last four days in tourist hotspots of Omkareshwar and Maheshwar in adjacent Khandwa and Khargone district.
One of their relatives spotted the duo on Friday and brought them to his house in Triveni Nagar-Chitawad at Indore, after which the parents of both the teenaged girl and Sunil also reached Indore.
When the relatives pressurized the duo to end their close friendship, the niece-uncle duo locked themselves in the toilet and allegedly consumed toilet acid kept there.
They were subsequently rushed to the MY Hospital, where they are stated critical. The Bhawarkuan police is investigating the episode.
