Sanchi to hike milk prices by Rs 2/litre across MP from May 15
Indore: Sanchi has increased prices of its toned milk and gold milk variants by Rs 2 per litre across Madhya Pradesh amid rising procurement costs and summer-related supply pressures, with the revised rates coming into effect from May 15.
The latest revision by Sanchi also comes almost a year after the state-run dairy brand last increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre on May 7, 2025.
Prices of smaller milk packets, including 180 ml and 170 ml pouches, have been kept unchanged as they are largely consumed by poor and underprivileged sections, officials said.
“Every summer, procurement prices paid to farmers are increased due to supply pressures. This year, overall input costs have also gone up because of rising transportation expenses and summer-related supply constraints,” MP state cooperative dairy federation managing director Sanjay Govani said.
The latest revision comes on the same day Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk prices across India effective May 14.
Earlier, Indore Dudgh Vikreta Sangh, which supplies milk door-to-door in Indore, had also increased milk prices by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 63 per litre from April 1.
Sanchi currently records daily packaged milk sales of around 7.5 lakh litres across Madhya Pradesh, with Indore and Bhopal continuing to remain its largest consumption markets.
Indore is currently clocking sales of around 2.35 lakh litres per day, while Bhopal leads the state with approximately 3.06 lakh litres daily liquid milk sales. Together, the two cities account for a major share of Sanchi’s overall milk offtake.
Sales in Ujjain have touched around 90,000 litres per day, while Bundelkhand has reached nearly 80,000 litres during peak demand periods, officials said.
