Indore: Leading paddlers of the country, Payas Jain, Manav Thakkar, Harmeet Desai and Sreeja Akula, delivered decisive performances as Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and the Reserve Bank of India emerged champions in the men and women's team events respectively at the UTT 87th Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championship, which concluded at Abhay Prashal on Tuesday.In the men's final, PSPB produced a clinical display to defeat West Bengal 3–0. Payas Jain set the tone with a composed four-game win over Ankur Bhattacharjee. Manav Thakkar followed with a straight-game victory against Aniket Choudhary, giving his side firm control. Veteran Harmeet Desai then sealed the title, overcoming Bodhisattva Choudhury in a hard-fought five-game match to complete the clean sweep.PSPB earlier entered the final with a dominant 3–0 win over Telangana in the semifinal, while West Bengal edged past the Railway Sports Promotion Board 3–2 in a closely contested tie.The women's final proved far more competitive as RBI edged past PSPB in a thrilling encounter. Sreeja Akula played a crucial role, winning the decisive fifth match against Yashaswini Ghorpade in a tense five-game battle. Diya Chitale also delivered under pressure, defeating Cinderella Das in a closely fought contest, while Ahika Mukherjee contributed with a key victory to keep RBI in contention.Earlier, RBI defeated Karnataka in the semifinal, while PSPB advanced with a 3–0 win over Uttar Pradesh.
The championship also saw action in the men's singles qualification rounds, with players from across the country registering wins to move ahead.The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of senior officials and dignitaries, marking the conclusion of a highly competitive national championship that showcased some of India's finest table tennis talent.
