INDORE: Good things come in small packages. With festival of kites round the corner, variety of kites in all sizes can be seen displayed in front of kite shops across city but the ones attracting maximum people this season are the special miniature kites. They measure not more than one inch and have been brought especially from Ahmedabad by shopkeeper
Zakir Hussain.
“Every year, I try to introduce something new. I found these small kites interesting and hence brought them here. These kites are getting a good response in the city markets. A community has ordered in bulk to gift these small kites to all the members. They can be used for decoration and gifting as shagun,” said Zakir Hussain.
While the normal sized kites cost Rs 5, these miniature kites are available for Rs 10 at the shop near Chhavni. Other than these miniature kites, a kite with a picture of American president Barack Obama and PM Narendra Modi can also be seen in the market. Obama’s trip to India is scheduled as the chief guest at the Republic Day parade on January 26.
“At the Gujarati School in Vijay Nagar, every year we organize kite festival on Makar Sankranti. This year too, we would be flying kites on January 14,” Divakar Shah, president of Gujarati Samaj said.
Yeshwant Club too would sport its own custom made fancy kite on Makar Sankranti, whose dimensions would be 10 by 10 feet.
“Kite festival would be organized this year at the club on January 18,” secretary Sandeep Pare said
