Man, 2 kids killed in Ratlam hit-and-run

A 28-year-old man from Ujjain and his two children were crushed to death when a dumper hit their motorcycle from behind on Simlaoda four-lane road in Ratlam district on Saturday evening, the police said. Officials said that the incident took place at around 06.

Indore: A 28-year-old man from Ujjain and his two children were crushed to death when a dumper hit their motorcycle from behind on Simlaoda four-lane road in Ratlam district on Saturday evening, the police said.
Officials said that the incident took place at around 06.00pm, when Gopal Bagdi (28), a resident of Ujjain, and his two children -- Sandhya (6) and Kartik (4), were going to Badnawar from Simlaoda.

Locals and eyewitnesses who reached at the site informed the police after the incident, after which a team of Bilpank police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
“Their motorcycle was hit by the dumper truck from behind, and the man along with his children came under its wheels and got killed on the spot,” Mahesh Shukla, an investigating officer with Bilpank police station told TOI.
Shukla said that the dumper truck driver, whose identity is not ascertained yet, fled from the spot immediately after the incident, leaving the vehicle behind.
He added that the deceased were identified on the basis of an Aadhar card recovered from the body of the man. “The bodies have been recovered and are being sent for post-mortem examination, and the deceased’s family have also been informed about the tragedy,” said Shukla, while adding that a case under IPC section 304A and other relevant sections has been registered against the unidentified dumper truck driver.
“The truck has been seized, and a manhunt has been launched, and the accused will be arrested soon. Further investigation in the incident is on,” Bilpank police station in-charge Deepak Sejwar said.
