Fire destroys plastic goods stall at Navchandi fair in Khandwa
Indore: A plastic goods stall at Navchandi fair in Khandwa was destroyed in fire on Friday morning, triggering allegations of negligence against organisers and municipal corporation.The incident occurred around 9 am after garbage behind the stall was set on fire which quickly spread due to highly inflammable plastic items. By the time firefighters arrived and controlled the flames, the entire stock was reduced to ashes.At the time of the incident, the fair was closed. Stall operator Armaan Khan and his family were away for Eid. They claimed losses of around Rs 4 lakh.Police said that only one stall was affected and the timely response helped contain the fire. Traders, however, alleged that no fire safety arrangements were in place at the venue and fire tenders were not stationed on site. An inquiry into the incident is underway.
