Ethical leadership key to modern warfare: Speakers at AWC seminar
Mhow: A two-day seminar on "Shaping Military Leaders for the 21st Century: Ethical & Value-Based Leadership" concluded at the Army War College (AWC), Mhow, on Friday, highlighting the growing importance of moral and ethical decision-making in modern warfare.According to an AWC release, the seminar focused on preparing commanders to tackle emerging challenges ranging from counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism to multi-domain operations and the ethical complexities of AI-enabled systems. Speakers stressed that ethical leadership is not an abstract ideal but an operational necessity that underpins the effectiveness and legitimacy of military actions.

Discussions noted that blurred lines between combatants and civilians, rapid technological advancements, and time-sensitive decision-making demand leaders who are not only tactically and strategically sound but also morally resilient.The seminar was inaugurated by Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Commander Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, while AWC Commandant Lt Gen HS Sahi delivered the welcome address. A souvenir was also released. Around 1,000 officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, and friendly foreign countries participated. The event was also streamed live to ensure wider participation.
