INDORE: Barely a week after a peon was found in possession of assets worth crores of rupees in Ujjain, state bureau of investigation of economic offences (formerly EOW) sleuths on Sunday stumbled on documents of assets and 1 kg gold worth Rs 40 crore from a government clerk's residence in Indore. The clerk is employed with Regional Transport Office (RTO), Indore.
A team comprising 40 EOW sleuths, which raided the house of the clerk, Raman Dhuldhoye, on Sunday found papers pointing to his owning properties across the city. The 50-year-old clerk reportedly owns 23 acres of land on Khandwa Road, a two-storey sprawling bungalow, a hotel in Ranipura area, 4 plots at Sanwer measuring 4,500 square feet and four luxury vehicles.
The clerk, who had joined the service in 1996, earns a monthly salary of Rs 16,000, said EOW SP Manoj Singh.
The SP said apart from documents of properties, 1 kg gold and Rs 1 lakh cash was found from the premises during the11-hour raid. The raid began at around 6 am.
The clerk, booked under sections 13 (1) (C), 13 1 (D) & 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1984, could face imprisonment for seven years.
In the raid conducted by the Lokayukta police on December 7 at the premises of Narendra Deshmukh, a peon working with Ujjain Municipal Corporation, was found to own property worth over Rs 10 crore in MP, Haryana and Maharashtra.
