Indore: After a brief spell of cloud cover and drizzle, clear sky has returned to Indore, setting the stage for a steady rise in mercury. The change became evident on Friday as both day and night temperature moved upward, signaling the onset of a stronger summer phase.
Maximum temperature in the city reached 35.0 degree Celsius, registering an increase of over one degree from the previous day's 33.8 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature rose to 19.8 degree Celsius, up by more than two degrees compared to the earlier 17.7 degree Celsius, indicating a steady warming trend during the night as well.
The change was noticeable from the morning itself. At 8:30 am, the temperature stood at 26.4 degree Celsius, higher than the previous day at the same time, reflecting a quicker rise after sunrise. With clouds clearing from the city's sky, direct sunlight returned, allowing temperatures to climb more rapidly through the day.
Met officials said the earlier dip in temperature was largely due to cloud cover and associated weather systems. With these conditions now easing, a consistent upward trend is expected. Winds during the day remained light, largely from the eastern and north-eastern directions, with speeds reaching up to 17 kmph.
The forecast now points to a sharp and sustained rise in temperature. Met officials have indicated that the maximum temperature is likely to touch 38 degree Celsius as early as the next day, with a further climb expected soon after. By early next week, day temperature is projected to reach close to 40 degree Celsius, marking a clear shift into intense summer conditions.
Night temperature, too, is expected to rise significantly, moving towards 23–24 degree Celsius in the coming days. This will reduce any overnight relief, making conditions warmer round the clock.
With clear sky expected to persist and no immediate weather system offering respite, the city is likely to experience a steady build-up of heat. Officials caution that the coming days may mark the beginning of a prolonged hot spell, with both day and night temperature remaining elevated.
