Barwani: Police on Friday arrested a man for killing his neighbour over suspicion of an affair with his wife in Balwadi town under Warla police station limits in Barwani district.
SDOP Sendhwa Ajay Waghmare told TOI that the man, Manoj Birare, was arrested for killing his neighbour and a dhaba owner, 45-year-old Nilesh Bhawsar. He was produced before the court and sent to jail.
On Thursday around 2.30 pm, when Nilesh was heading towards his dhaba, Manoj arrived on a motorcycle, hit him deliberately, and knocked him to the ground. He then brutally attacked Nilesh with bricks and stones, targeting his head and face.
The injured man was immediately rushed to the govt hospital in Warla by family members and locals, where doctors declared him dead.
Following a complaint by the deceased's son, Ved, a murder case was registered at Warla police station, and a search was launched. The police team collected evidence from the crime scene and, with the help of the cyber cell, traced the accused's location. A raid was conducted in Chopda (Pathrada area) of Maharashtra, leading to his arrest, Waghmare said.
The SDOP said that the accused was driven by suspicion of an illicit relationship between the deceased and his wife, which had been a cause of prior conflicts too.
