INDORE: Three policemen including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) were injured when a patrolling van they were in was hit by a mini truck at Teen Puliya area of Kishanganj in wee hours on Sunday.
The police said that ASI Suresh Yadav and constables Kishore Barde and
Dharmendra, all posted at Kishanganj police station, were on overnight patrol duty and were heading towards Kishanganj overbridge when their van was hit from behind by a loading mini truck.
“The impact was so intense that constable Dharmendra, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle and it skidded into a ditch before coming to a halt. The truck driver, however, fled from the spot leaving the vehicle behind,” the police said. Locals of the area came to their rescue and called an ambulance. The trio sustained injuries on their head, shoulder and legs, and were admitted to a hospital.
A case of negligent driving has been registered against the truck driver, and a manhunt was launched to arrest him, an official with Kishanganj police said while talking to media..
