Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced a slew of proposals, including the development of urban growth corridors, temple and tourism corridors, along with the promotion of renewable energy to reduce future cost burdens.
At a review meeting with officials of the municipal administration and roads and buildings departments, he instructed them to prepare plans for the development of the Warangal-Karimnagar-Khammam corridor, the Mahabubnagar-Bhoothpur-Jadcherla corridor, and the Kothagudem-Palvancha-Sujatha Nagar corridor.
The CM emphasised that the Warangal-Karimnagar-Khammam corridor would play an important role in the future development of the state. As part of the urban infrastructure development programme, the CM instructed officials to develop Outer Ring Roads for the Khammam, Warangal, and Karimnagar municipal corporations.
Revanth outlined the need to develop these corridors by integrating towns and ensuring that radial roads are designed and aligned to provide close connectivity to major municipalities. He said all infrastructure projects and plans should be designed with a long-term perspective to meet the needs of the next 25 years.
Instructing officials to prepare urban-centric plans for every municipality, the CM stressed that solid waste management, wastewater treatment plants and renewable energy plants should form an integral part of urban planning. He said special attention should be given to the use of technology in the construction of underground drainage systems and the adoption of EVs to minimise operational costs. Even hired vehicles should be EVs, he added.
The installation of multi-utility towers in towns and cities to mitigate radiation levels, smart poles across all locations, localised infrastructure designs suited to the population demographics of each city and town, traffic management and the utilisation of AI were also discussed during the meeting. Officials were instructed to make it mandatory to use treated water for all building construction activities.
The CM also reviewed proposals for the development of temple corridors. Referring to the proposed development of new airports, the CM emphasised that water requirements for the proposed Warangal Airport must be taken into consideration. He said the Adilabad Airport would be developed by the ministry of defence and directed officials to ensure proper road connectivity to the new airports.
The CM also instructed officials to integrate all the municipalities under the jurisdiction of Singareni Collieries into a single administrative unit. He said the CSR funds of the Singareni Company should be utilised exclusively for local development initiatives.
